Agrupamento de Escolas Dr. Serafim Leite (AESL) is a public school cluster located in São João da Madeira, Portugal, providing education from pre-school to secondary level. At the upper-secondary level, the school offers Scientific-Humanistic courses in Sciences and Technologies, Visual Arts, and Socioeconomic Sciences, as well as a wide range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) programmes.
Currently, the VET courses include Management and Programming of Computer Systems, Mechatronics, Electronics, Automation and Control, Communication – Marketing, Public Relations and Advertising, Graphic Communication Design, and Installation of Photovoltaic Systems.
The school community comprises around 1,300 students and 200 staff members, including 111 teachers. AESL is strongly committed to fostering inclusion, interculturality, sustainability, and digital transformation, preparing students for both academic pathways and the labour market.
Through Erasmus+ projects, AESL promotes internationalization by enhancing students’ language, intercultural, and professional competences, while also supporting staff training in innovative methodologies and digital skills. These experiences benefit not only the direct participants but also enrich the entire school community by encouraging collaboration, creativity, and European values.
